My understanding is that the ATC code should be placed in this case exclusively in the epsos:asSpecializedKind/epsos:generalizedMedicineClass/epsos:code element. Ingredients MAY in some cases be identified through their ATC codes (although the ATC code system has not been designed for this) but then it should be possible not only for the first ingredient.

We proposed the solution of making the manufacturedMaterial optional in the semantic F2F meeting of 12/13 November in Brussels, but although it would technically a solution, it was stressed that the formCode has to be mandatory for the eP/eD documents, but only optional for the PS documents.

Since this requirement cannot be fulfilled using a common template, 2 separate templates have to be created as a specialization of the current one. But this changes the specifications and has to occur through a change proposal.
This issue is a duplicate of the older one: https://art-decor.ehdsi.eu/art-decor/decor-issues--epsos-?id=2.16.840.1.113883.3.1937.777.11.6.126 so it was decided to close this one and to keep the old one.

- From the discussion with dr. Christof Gessner: If we look into the expand documentation, we noticed that the formCode has to have cardinality 1 .. 1 and conformance R for ePrescription and eDispensation. However, for PatientSummary, the formCode has to have cardinality 0 .. 1 and be optional. Since this template is reused in all document templates (eP, eD, PS) we should make the element optional.
This won't have any impact on the document validation, since eP/eD messages will still be valid (there is just the relaxation of the constraint)

Suggestion:

- Make the element optional.

- In ART-DECOR, we have two attribute values defined for the upper epsos:ingredient element: @classCode and @determinerCode with both fixed values. But when we add these attributes as defined in ART-DECOR, we have XSD schema validation errors. The @determinerCode should be removed from ART-DECOR (this is also in line with the EXPAND documentation)

- Since the "asContent" part is a CDA-extension based on IHE Pharmacy profiles, we would suggest to add the description of the IHE Pharmacy profiles to the CDA IGs. This question was raised in the cda-document channel in slack. And by adding a description, it'll be only more clear for other people in the future.

Contents in the IHE Pharmacy profile:

"In case the package describes a product, and the package has a brand name, it SHOULD be described in the <pharm:name> element (e.g., Xylocaine 1% with Adrenaline Inj, 5 injections package)."

According to Marta it is very uncommon that a package has a brand name, but in certain cases it could be the case (she mentioned the example of "Turbohaler").
