Alström syndrome (AS) is a multisystemic disorder characterized by cone-rod dystrophy, hearing loss, obesity, insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus, dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM; see this term), and progressive hepatic and renal dysfunction.
